These orchestral compositions have been written to include all instrumental students in the music making experience of a large group performance.
Consequently there are a wide range of standards in the instrumental parts which allows more students to participate in the performance. Each set of music contains a score and parts for;- 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, alto and tenor saxophone, 2 trumpets, 2 horns, 2 trombones, euphonium, tuba, violins, violas, cellos, bass, (string synthesiser part as well,) piano, synthesiser (separate to strings), 2 lead guitars, (notation and chords,) rhythm guitar, (chords,) bass guitar, drum kit and 3 percussion. (Standard for all pieces except The Works and Orchestra 1999, see individual entries for instrumentation). Various transpositions are available for the brass, please ring for details.
The music reflects the styles of all the instruments, each piece has sections written for standard groups of instruments, including the rhythm section, so that the students can experience stylistic writing for their own group of instruments as well as that of more unfamiliar groups.
Some sections allow experimentation with limited improvisational concepts and short individual solo sections throughout the pieces add to the students sense of achievement when performing.
