| A lively, dramatic percussion samba for 1 player (xylophone and 2 tom toms) with wind band accompaniment. Introductory arpeggio "question and answer" themes lead into a rolled melody on xylophone. A percussive section in the middle preludes the long and exciting final crescendo which culminates in a short cadenza before the snappy finish. Ensemble percussion parts play an important role in the piece, (snare drum/cymbal/glockenspiel/cowbell/castanets, 3 timpani (pedals) and snare drum/tom tom) adding both extra sound colour and drive. |

Wind band is of an intermediate standard needing at least 2 percussion, one to play a duet on vibraphone with the soloist in the last movement. |
